When I am not writing, I dwell upon my journey so far, at times chat with book characters mentally and sometimes contemplate experimenting with new genres. “Cotton Candy Ain’t Sweet Anymore” is a perfect example of this urge to step out of my comfort zone once in a while, a kind of self-motivation.
I plan to keep this work under ten thousand words, as recent studies have shown that there is a growing demand for this form of content. It also means that this piece of literature will fall between a short story and Novella.

As mentioned above “Cotton Candy Ain’t Sweet Anymore” is contemporary fiction which is written in a narrative form. For the uninitiated it simply means that the entire story is recited from a single point of view / solo perspective. In this case, Krish aka Krishnam, a hardcore programmer is the narrator of the story.
Krish always dreamt of becoming a writer but peer pressure forces him on to a different path. However, after two years of non-stop coding, and complete burnout, he feels the time is come to take a break and give a shot to his writing aspiration. He quits his high paying job in Bangalore, rents a compact apartment on the outskirts and begins his writing journey. However, there is one problem. Krish wants to write something which is never written before. He builds several story outlines but none of them impresses his creative soul.
Frustrated, he decides to seek outside help. He knew his muse was waiting for him somewhere in Bangalore city, and all he had to do is, search. He also realises that he would have to be on the street all the time if he wanted to wed his muse. After contemplating several strategies to achieve his goal, the one which tickled his logical side was driving a cab. It would provide him wings, and unmatched mobility to explore.
And very soon he finds a person who owns several cabs which are Uber registered. Thus begins his quest for that one in a million tale. Surprisingly, the muse did actually meet him. But what he didn’t realise was the price he’d have to pay for flirting with it.
